Between the Skyscrapers

this view

I love this view and all the thoughts that ensue. In another life, I could be hitching rides on trains back and forth across the country and sleeping in ditches with friends, never having a clue how that story ends. But instead I'm sinking into this warm tub like an Om sound and the hair on my chest is a forest of kelp swaying in rhythmic waves. Should I try my luck again, or have I already lost my stake? Maybe I should give you a recording of all my thoughts on painter's tape. We’re so divided between wind and water, us. My breath rolls over mountains like fog, but all I wanted to say is the smile of a dog. For less than a cent I'll be your lavender- the plant, not the perfume. Every year they discover old dinosaurs and call them new. Imagine then how long I’ve been here, waiting just for you.
