propriety
You can do it.
But where are you?
In the grocery store is where you wander.
Aisle after aisle you are filled with questions,
each movement of your eyes landing on some flashy packaging
raising another, and forgetting the previous,
a never ending sequence of cartwheels
set to the sounds of murmuring customers
and squeaky wheels on carts.
You become ravenous, insatiable. Your desire cannot be quenched by such sterile displays of propriety! But it's yours for the taking and so you swallow it whole, your vast longing consuming everything in sight.
And then it's gone.
Not even the far off beeping of checkout machines can be heard.
Not even.
