don't look away
On a beautiful day,
I was out for a walk.
She was across the street,
waiting at a stop.
As soon as I saw her,
she saw me.
Our eyes locked.
“Don't look away” I thought,
and she didn't either.
I lasted five seconds.
My body felt fine,
but my soul was not dressed
for that kind of weather.
